[Rumor] New Call of Duty Series Will Set in the Korean War?

Every year, Raven Software, Treyarch and Infinity Ward take turns to develop the latest entry in the world's most popular FPS game series - Call of Duty. The most recent, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, was developed by Treyarch (in collaboration with Raven Software) and takes players to the 1980s to take part in the Cold War. So, the latest rumors say that the latest COD game will take place 30 years before the Cold War.

One Twitter user who is known to be trusted for rumors or leaks about COD, ModernWarzone, claims on his Twitter account that the latest COD entry will be set in the 1950s. This era was the period in which the Korean War or the Korean War took place.

[Rumor] New Call of Duty Series Will Set in the Korean War?

To be more precise, the Korean War lasted from 1950 to 1953, where the conflict that occurred did not only involve South and North Korea, but also other major countries such as China, the Soviet Union and the United States.

Given that the last few COD games have historical backgrounds such as World War 2 and the Vietnam War, it makes sense that Activision as a publisher is interested in re-adapting historical stories into video game forms.

Although ModernWarzone has a record that is both good and accurate for COD leaks, so far there is no concrete evidence to confirm or refute these rumors. Activision hasn't spoken yet and is likely not going to make an announcement regarding this new Call of Duty series in the near future.

Previously or to be precise last year, the setting and some of the official titles for COD: Black Ops Cold War were leaked six months prior to its release.
