New PUBG Games Reportedly Released for 2021 and 2022
After the success of Playerunknown's Battleground or often called PUBG, the developer of the battleroyale game is reportedly working on a game set in the same universe this year and also next year.
Kim Chang-Chan, CEO of Krafton, explained to Bloomberg that they want to continue the success of the franchise and not just be a "one-hit wonder". With the contribution between PUBG Studio and Striking Distance, two games are planned to be released to maintain the relevance of the PUBG brand.
The first game developed by PUBG Studio will be a “new mobile battle-royale” game set for release this year, while Striking Distance will develop a horror game titled The Callisto Protocol for PC and Console with the game taking place 300 years after the PUBG event.
The Callisto Protocol was announced at The Game Awards 2020 held last month. No gameplay leaks have been shared yet and only the cinematic trailer can be shown in the meantime. Nobody expected that the game would have something to do with PUBG until the developer confirmed it after the award ceremony ended.
Striking Distance is a new studio founded by Dead Space veteran - Glen Schofield, whose ambition is to make his new project as scary as the 2008 Visceral Games game.
