Final Fantasy XIV at least will continue for the next 5 years

Even though it had failed during its release, Final Fantasy XIV turned into one of the best MMORPG games that can be juxtaposed with World of Warcraft. The growing number of players indicates that the game initiated by Naoki Yoshida, MMORPG veteran as well as its Director and Producer has been the savior of Square-Enix's financial condition for years since 2013.

To stay afloat, Yoshida and his team designed an expansion that became the main content covering the main story of Final Fantasy XIV. They also added a variety of side-quests and other interesting features so that players don't just focus on working on the story, but also have fun in the world they have created.

Currently Final Fantasy XIV already has more than 20 million players and Square-Enix plans to continue to increase the number. Of course, the support of the Japanese company will be getting longer at least for the next few years.

Speaking to the Washington Post, Naoki Yoshida explained that if Final Fantasy XIV players continue to grow, Square-Enix wants the game to last for at least the next five years. Yoshida admits that the CEO of Square-Enix wants them to get 30 million players, he also still has a lot of plans for the game.

"Luckily at the moment there are no plans to stop our momentum. At one point we thought the number of players would continue to be flat, but fortunately they are actually increasing. "

Final Fantasy XIV is the second MMORPG from the franchise and will likely continue to receive support. This is evidenced by their first MMORPG released in 2002 on PC and PS2, Final Fantasy XI, which is still supported by Square-Enix with its updates to this day.

Currently, Final Fantasy XIV will soon get a new expansion update entitled Endwalker which will be released in fall 2021. Square-Enix has also prepared its PlayStation 5 version which will be released on April 13, 2021. The game also recently received promotion via an anime trailer in South Korea.
